About Me
26 years of putting children and families first.
From Questions to Answers, Every Time
ABOUT ME
I’m a Consultant Paediatrician at Leeds Children’s Hospital, one of the largest and busiest children’s hospitals in the UK, caring for over 50,000 children every year. I also serve as the Clinical Lead for the General Paediatric Department. With over 26 years of experience in general paediatrics, I have had the privilege of helping children and families navigate a wide range of health challenges, and this work remains something I’m truly passionate about.
My medical journey began in India, where I completed my primary medical qualification before going on to undertake postgraduate studies in paediatrics at one of India’s busiest children’s hospitals. I then continued my training in the UK, gaining experience at some of the country’s leading children’s hospitals, including those in Birmingham and Leeds. My qualifications include MBBS, MD Paediatrics, FRCPCH, and an MSc in Child Health, and I’m proud to be a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
Since becoming a Consultant in Leeds, I have developed extensive skills in managing all kinds of childhood illnesses. These include asthma and recurrent wheeze, chest infections, heart murmurs, tummy pain, constipation and diarrhoea, headaches, neurological problems, reflux, cow’s milk allergy, growth and nutrition issues, newborn problems, and much more. I also have a special interest in kidney conditions in children — such as recurrent urine infections, bedwetting, urinary frequency and urgency.
My Story
Something I feel passionately about is Long COVID and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in children and young people. I was instrumental in setting up the Long COVID/fatigue clinic in Leeds, and I’ve had the honour of supporting many families through what can be an incredibly tough and often misunderstood condition. Working alongside a fantastic team of therapists, we’ve been able to make a real difference to young people’s lives – work that was even featured on BBC Look North.

Over the years, I’ve been involved in something I’m incredibly proud of — developing a new system to detect lead poisoning in children in Leeds. Thanks to this work, Leeds is now the only city in the UK to actively screen children at risk of lead exposure, and we’ve already found cases that would otherwise have been missed entirely. This work was featured in the Financial Times and an associated podcast, Untold: Toxic Legacy, and I hope it will inspire similar programmes across the country.

At the heart of everything I do is a genuine love for what I do and a real commitment to the children and families I work with. I believe in taking the time to truly listen, explaining things in a way that makes sense, and working together with you to find the best way forward for your child.
